OH SEW EASY— TIME SAVING TOOLS & TECHNIQUES WORKSHOPS

No matter your skill level you’re sure to learn new tricks. And with your new found knowledge (and confidence) it will be ‘oh sew easy’ to create many more fabulous quilts.

Students learn the easy way to create stunning effects while experimenting with various tools. You’ll make small blocks, learning up-to-date techniques and tips on time efficiency and accuracy. These workshops are especially for quilters who love playing with fabric and the techniques you learn can be used when making other quilts, home decor or even clothing and accessories.

BLOSSOMING HEARTS

Nothing says love like a heart and the Blossoming Hearts quilt is the perfect project for your love affair with fabric.

This enchanting wall-hanging quilt features eight different blocks, each with a special technique for you to learn.

Techniques include free standing appliqué, chenilling, celtic, foundation piecing, colourwash, foundation piecing, traditional piecing, needleturn appliqué and raw edge appliqué.

BUTTERFLY BLOSSOMS

Butterflies are a symbol of “freedom, fun and joyous times” which is what you’re sure to have making this delightfully sweet quilt. With butterflies happily flitting from flower to flower Butterfly Blossoms is a quilt that will appeal to the young and young-at-heart.

The techniques include 3D appliqué, bias appliqué, texturising, pleating, raw stitch appliqué and fabric folding. This quilt also features an interesting sashing and scalloped border, and is assembled by Quilt As You Go.

HEARTS ABOUND

Four blocks - four fun techniques - four hearts abound! Come play with fun gadgets, making each heart unique.
'Scrunch' one up, 'weave' love into another, be as 'biased' (and ruched) as you like...and there's the thrill of 'chenille' too.

Hearts Abound uses a quick 'quilt as you go method' with the blocks quilted before adding the hearts. The blocks are quilted in a grid, a simple process for those new to machine quilting. Then each of the four featured blocks are set on point to create the centre, and corner blocks are added before framing with the binding.

These workshops are presented as one day classes with the understanding that a bit of preparation beforehand is required. Each project uses a Quilt As You Go method for assembling the quilt. To get the most from the workshop, all the pre-workshop instructions need to be completed, including having individual blocks quilted. Students can forgo this step if they prefer to just learn the fun fabric techniques presented in each block.
