WHO WE ARE
Like a quilt, Quilters World has grown piece by piece to form a magical world for quilters. With the focus on sharing and promoting the art of patchwork and quilting, owners Pauline and Rob Rogers built the pieces together.
HOW IT BEGAN
It all began years ago when Pauline accompanied some girlfriends to a quilting class. Enjoying this pastime she borrowed a sewing machine, purchased some fabrics and began dabbling in quilt making. Soon she was sharing her new found knowledge with others and much to her surprise was asked to tutor some local quilting classes.
When the Queensland Arts Council commissioned her as a teacher, patchwork and quilting went from hobby to career. Pauline spent a few years travelling around Queensland teaching on behalf of the Arts Council.
As she loved teaching workshops and didn't want to stop, her husband Rob decided to join her on the road. Rob provided Pauline with the support she needed while they spent 12 years crisscrossing the country, teaching women in the outback how to create quilts.
WHAT WE ARE
In 1996, they chose to settle down in Toowoomba, and there they established Country Fabrics and Quilters Store. Nowadays, Country Fabrics and Quilters is known as Quilters World an award winning Patchwork and Quilting business.
WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
Pauline and her staff, as passionate quilters are committed to enhancing the art of patchwork and quilting by helping others learn and perfect the techniques of patchwork and quilting. To do this Quilters World offers numerous options for quilters to acquire new skills, from patchwork and quilting workshops and classes to instructional learn at home DVD's.
WHAT WE OFFER
To promote the craft, Quilters World also provide events designed for the enjoyment of quilters.
Each year the Quilter's Outback Tour takes "city"quilters to meet "country" quilters in the outback. This unique tour package is an opportunity for quilters to share their company while learning together. Taking part in workshops while travelling throughout remote areas of Australia, is a truly inspirational experience.
Quiltfest, provides inspiration to patchwork and quilting enthusiasts annually in Toowoomba during the Carnival of the Flowers, and Quilter's Getaways and Gatherings featuring guest tutors and lecturers.
With all this activity, Pauline still makes trips to country Queensland to hold her School House workshops and she has been an integral part in the creation of numerous community quilts.
We are dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer through Margie's Quilts of Hope. Pauline started this challenge after losing one of her customers to breast cancer. Many hundreds of quilters support the Challenge every year, making patchwork blocks and quilts to sell with all money raised going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
OUR GOAL
We want to help you (and as many people as possible) with any of your patchwork and quilting needs. Our desire is to spread the passion that is patchwork and quilting!
